Sparks fly

So H and I were trying to figure out new and creative ways to take photography.  Granted this is not new… it was new to us.  We made it an adventure to learn something new, while videoing it as well.  Be sure to like our facebook page and subscribe to our new youtube channel.  Hope you enjoy!

Stars can’t shine without darkness

I remember going with H to take this picture. It was a cold late night. We had barely met and both of us were having rough days. It seemed like nothing was going right.
She sent me a text that said “I’ve got to get out of the house, I’m thinking about going to shoot some random things.” Remember, we are both photographers, so when we say shoot random things, that doesn’t mean to literally to shoot random things. That’s us, with cameras, just following out hearts. Taking pictures of whatever we desire. To shoot things. So she asked if I wanted to go and of course I was game. We ended up at a local cemetery on the north side of town. Mainly because it has a huge hill looking down on the city and the light was incredible. As we got closer to the graveyard I thought to myself. Finally…. After all of these years I have someone to share my passion of pure randomness with. Someone that understands me without even saying a word. That night we didn’t say much, we were both in foul moods, but here’s the beauty of it all. We didn’t have to. We were both happy, it was obvious. Some people drink, some gamble, some read. Just something to escape reality if only for a minute. We shoot randomness. We seriously said nothing, but both knew exactly why we came here. To make something from nothing. To freeze frame time. During that ten seconds of exposure we waited patiently. We both glanced at the small two inch screen on the back of the Nikon and smiled. It was perfect. We packed up and went back to our houses. Within an hour she texted me what we had captured and I was amazed. I loved it. It spoke to me, it was gentle, it said everything by saying absolutely nothing. It was art. I was instantly reminded of a quote I saw weeks earlier. Stars can’t shine without darkness. This may mean nothing to you, but this describes us. We are stars. Our light has been dimmed for so long. All we want to do is shine. Our time is near
